The short version

  • Your audio never leaves your computer. Your microphone and any system audio are turned into text on your device. The raw sound is never uploaded.
  • We don't keep your questions or screenshots. The text of your question and a single screenshot are sent to the AI model that generates the reply, but they are never stored on our servers.
  • You can start without an account. The free plan works anonymously. You only create an account if you choose to subscribe.
  • We don't sell your data. It's never used for advertising or sold to anyone.

1. Who we are

Sivel AI (“Sivel”, “we”, “us”) is a desktop voice assistant — a small on-screen orb you hold to ask a spoken question. It listens, can look at your screen, thinks with an AI model, and answers out loud. Sivel is available for macOS and Windows.

The service is operated by LMK Group AB (org. nr 559538-0725), a company registered in Sweden with its registered address at Stenkullavägen 44, Stockholm, Sweden. LMK Group AB is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@sivel.ai.

2. What stays on your device

The most sensitive parts of how Sivel works happen entirely on your own computer:

  • Speech-to-text. When you hold the orb and speak, your microphone audio is transcribed to text locally on your device. The raw audio recording is never sent to us or to anyone else, and we never store it.
  • Listening to what's playing.When relevant, Sivel can also transcribe audio that is playing on your computer (for example a lecture or video) so it can answer questions like “what did they just say?” This transcription also happens locally; only the resulting text — not the sound — may be included with your question (see the next section).
  • The spoken reply.Sivel's voice is generated on your device. The answer text is turned into speech locally.

3. What we send to answer a question

Sivel cannot answer your questions purely on-device — the actual reasoning is done by a large AI model running in the cloud. So when you ask a question, the following is sent through our server to that AI model:

  • the text of your question (from the on-device transcription) and your recent conversation history;
  • a single screenshot of the screen the orb is on, automatically downsized, so Sivel can answer questions about what you're looking at;
  • when relevant, the short text transcript of audio that was just playing on your computer (never the audio itself);
  • basic technical information needed to operate and meter the service: a hashed device identifier, a per-session identifier, your app version and operating-system version, and — only if you are signed in — your authentication token.

This data passes through our processing server (the “Sivel proxy”) and is forwarded to Anthropic, which runs the Claude model that produces the answer. We do notstore the content of your questions, screenshots, or transcripts on our servers — our server keeps only non-content operational metadata (for example, whether the request succeeded, how long it took, and whether a screenshot or audio transcript was included). Anthropic processes this content to generate the response under its commercial terms, which provide that inputs and outputs from its API are not used to train its models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

4. Information we store

On our backend (hosted on Supabase), we store the following, depending on how you use Sivel:

  • Account information (only if you subscribe). If you create an account, you sign in with Google, and we store the account identifier and email address that Google provides. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Subscription & billing. If you buy a plan, your payment is handled by Stripe. We store a reference to your Stripe customer record and your subscription status, plan, and renewal date. We never see or store your full card details — those go directly to Stripe.
  • Usage counters.To enforce the monthly question limits of each plan, we keep simple per-day request counts — tied to your account if you're subscribed, or to a hashed device identifier if you're on the free plan. These are counts, not the content of your questions.
  • Abuse-prevention counters. To prevent the free tier from being abused, we may keep short-lived per-day counts associated with a hashed device identifier and, in some cases, your IP address.
  • Product analytics. We record technical events that help us understand and improve the product — for example app launches, permission grants, sign-ins, upgrade clicks, and per-request performance metrics. These events carry a hashed device identifier, a session identifier, your account identifier (if signed in), your plan tier, app version and OS version, plus non-content metadata (such as latency and success flags). They do not contain your questions, audio, or screenshots.

5. The website

On this website (sivel.ai) we use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic — such as page views and download clicks. It does not use tracking cookies and does not build a profile of you across sites. When you go through checkout, the Stripe payment pages and our checkout flow process the information needed to complete your purchase.

6. Service providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers (sub-processors) to run Sivel. They process data only on our instructions and under their own terms:

8. How long we keep data

We keep data only as long as we need it. Account, subscription, and billing records are retained for as long as you have an account and for any period afterwards required by law (for example, accounting records). Usage and abuse-prevention counters are short-lived and reset on a daily or monthly cycle. Analytics events are retained in aggregate to track trends over time. Because we don't store the content of your questions, audio, or screenshots, there is nothing of that kind for us to retain.

9. International transfers

Some of our providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the providers' own compliance frameworks, to protect it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data — including the right to access a copy of it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@sivel.ai.

If you are in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Sweden, this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

11. Security

We design Sivel to keep the most sensitive data on your device, and we protect the data we do handle with industry-standard measures: encrypted connections, access controls, and secrets kept server-side rather than in the app. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.

12. Children

Sivel is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Sivel evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Sivel after an update means you accept the revised policy.
